Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | The Office of Diversity & Inclusion (ODI) provides expertise and leadership at the University of Maryland around equity, diversity, ADA compliance, and inclusion work. The following units are within ODI: ADA Compliance, Bias Incident Support Services, Diversity Training & Education, LGBTQ+ Equity Center, Nyumburu Cultural Center, Office of Civil Rights & Sexual Misconduct, Office of Multi-ethnic Student Education (OMSE), and TerrapinSTRONG. Bias Incident Support Services (BISS) is charged with addressing bias incidents targeting UMD students, faculty and staff. The program responds, educates and reports to the campus community about bias incidents, its impact, as well as navigating identity-based harm more broadly. The program manager will conduct preliminary assessments (i.e., intake interviews, resource-needs analysis) for individuals reporting bias incidents. In addition, this position will maintain and update the hate-bias reporting database, the hate-bias log and report form. This position will develop curriculum based on best practices and adult learning principles for campus constituents; and will deliver training workshops around hate-bias response, trauma-informed practices, and restorative practices. The program manager will implement and manage events such as restorative circles, free speech and social justice discussion, and hold meetings or group spaces to address the impact of bias to UMD community members. The program manager will compile data, write reports, analyze trends in the metrics. This position reports directly to the director, BISS. |

Physical Demands | Sedentary work performed in an office environment. Regularly required to travel to meetings, events, etc. both on and off campus. Ability to travel both on and off campus and domestic travel. Regularly required to communicate and exchange information and to use technology/devices. Ability to attend events, meetings, trainings after normal business hours. Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands. |
