UMD First-Gen Book Collection & Libguide |
|
|
On National First-Generation Celebration Day STAMP is collaborating with the University Libraries to launch our inaugural First-Generation Book Collection. The 2022 book collection will include the following Ebooks from first-generation authors available to reserve at the library. To view the physical display of the books visit the Portico Room (Room 2109) in Mckeldin. Additionally, the UMD Libraries has published the First-Generation Libguide that is accessible throughout the year with the resources. We hope to continue updating the Libguide yearly with new material that is relevant and helpful for first-gen students.

Why Does Engagement Matter?
Engaging in student organizations is one way for you to find community and belonging at UMD. Involved students enrich their learning in deeper ways, are offered opportunities to practice the information and skills they are learning in class, find community, have more opportunities for individual growth and identity development, and begin to build lasting relationships. Getting involved and engaging in outside the classroom activities can improve your satisfaction with the college experience, strengthen relationships with staff, improve your career development and readiness, offer opportunities to grow your leadership skills, and increase your connection to the University of Maryland community.

Who Is The Student Involvement Suite For? (Tour of the Student Organization Resource Center (SORC) at the University of Maryland)
The suite was designed with and for students at UMD. Opened in Fall 2016, the Student Involvement Suite includes open lounge space, reservable meeting rooms, storage space, and work rooms (TerraPods). Although the Student Involvement Suite offerings will primarily serve student groups, it is also a place for students to learn about involvement opportunities, be in community together and make connections with peers. The Suite houses the offices for the Student Organization Resource Center, Student Government Association and Student Entertainment Events
