Smith Executive Speakers: Qualcomm
Join us on Monday, February 7th from 6:00-7:00PM in Room 1524 (Frank Auditorium) for our first Smith Executive Speakers series. Learn from Akash Palkhiwala, Chief Financial Officer of Qualcomm Incorporated, Sasmit Dwivedi, Senior Director of Investor Relations, and Nate Tibbits, senior vice president of Global Government Affairs and Public Affairs on their journeys from Smith MBA students to become Executives in one of the world's largest wireless network and innovations companies.

Mr. Palkhiwala serves as chief financial officer. In this role, he leads the global financial organization, IT, and investor relations. He also serves as a member of Qualcomm’s executive committee. Mr. Palkhiwala served as Senior Vice President and finance lead for QCT for four years, with responsibility for finance and accounting for all chipset products and segments including Mobile, RF Front End, Compute, Auto, Connectivity and Networking, and IoT.

Mr. Dwivedi serves as Senior Director, Investor Relations for Qualcomm. Prior to joining the company, he spent 20+ years in New York in various equity research oriented roles. Early in his career, he spent 5 years on the sell-side as a technology analyst for Goldman Sachs and CIBC Oppenheimer. He then transitioned to the buy-side, serving various roles in a 17-year career with the asset management arm of Nippon Life group, most recently as SVP, Head of Research for the NY office of the company. Mr. Dwivedi holds a Bachelors in Technology from IIT, Mumbai and an MBA from the Smith School at Maryland.

Mr. Tibbits is senior vice president of Global Government Affairs and Public Affairs for Qualcomm Incorporated, a leader in wireless technology. He leads a worldwide team with responsibility for the company’s public policy agenda and regulatory engagement on a range of priorities. Mr. Tibbits also directs teams driving Qualcomm’s corporate responsibility initiatives on sustainability, STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics) education and the use of mobile technology for social and economic development, including the Thinkabit Lab and Wireless Reach programs. Prior to this role, he led Qualcomm’s Washington D.C. office, where he focused on trade, immigration reform and intellectual property protection.
