On this excursion, part of our Migrations theme, students from across Scholars will come together to tour the Harriet Tubman Byway, "the only place in the world that preserves and interprets the places where Harriet Tubman was born, lived, labored, and where she fled from." This bus trip will make several stops at key locations along the byway, including the Underground Railroad Visitor's Center, Bucktown Village Store, Linchester Mill, and Choptank Landing. The goal is to explore the history of slavery in Maryland and the Underground Railroad in particular as a form of liberatory migration.
The trip will cost $10, and includes the full bus tour, light breakfast, and lunch.  A full itinerary and information will be provided in October.  We are limiting this trip to FOUR students per Scholars program, but will create a waitlist for additional students who sign up (and will notify those on the waitlist by October 13).
