Homecoming week (October 16-21) will be soon upon us and we want you to celebrate the University of Maryland community! Make sure to submit this Homecoming Office Decorating Form by 12pm on Tuesday October 11th to get you ready for the Homecoming Spirit. DATES:

• Registration will open on Friday, September 16, 2022 (1 month until Homecoming week kicks off) 

• Complete and submit registration by Tuesday, October 11, 2022

• You may begin decorating on Friday, October 3, 2022 

• Decorations must be completed by Friday October 14, 2022

• Judging will take place Monday, October 17 – Thursday, October 20, 2022 

• Winner will be announced on Friday Oct. 21st at the TERP CARNIVAL on MCKELDIN MALL at 5:30pm following the performance from the Marching Band! A representative from your office must be present to accept their prize. 

• Decorations should be taken down by Friday, October 28, 2022.

RULES:

• To be included in the competition, your office MUST register (https://go.umd.edu/hcofficeregister2021) 

• Registration and decoration is for main office suites, open desks, or reception areas. Feel free to be creative - If your office is a Facilities Golf Cart or a  - Let’s see that decorated! 

• Spend no more than $50 for new materials, use of recycled and/or repurposed materials is strongly encouraged

• Cost of materials is the responsibility of the department personnel participating

• Use removable adhesives (NO nails, staples, duct tape, etc.)

• Decorations cannot cover windows that can be opened

• Corridors, exits, and exit paths must be kept clear

• Use non-combustible materials to decorate corridor walls & doors

• Do not overload outlets, use a lot of extension cords, or multiple outlet adaptors – tape down any cords along the ground

• Do not block fire protection equipment (pull stations, sprinklers, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, etc.)

JUDGING:
Each office will be judged on the following criteria: Creativity, Theme/Spirit, and Originality.

PRIZE: One Grand Prize Winner will be selected by a member of VPSA Council, Spirit of Maryland Finalist, and a group of student leaders. The winning office suite will receive a UMD Dining Snack Pack and a trophy to be rotated annually between the winning offices!! 

PEOPLE’S CHOICE: If you wish to win by popular opinion - Share a Picture here by October 14th. Pictures will be posted on Homecoming’s Social media for our community to vote on the Best Office. This office will be awarded a UMD Homecoming Prize back of all the Homecoming Swag, Dairy Coupons, and more!
