Office of Community Engagement

Founded in 2012, the University of Maryland's Office of Community Engagement (OCE) enhances University and community partnerships by sparking new ideas, cultivating connections, and supporting meaningful collaboration. We listen to community priorities, connect people with similar goals, amplify community voices, and mobilize volunteers to address critical resident-identified challenges and opportunities.

Good Neighbor Day is an annual collaborative partnership between the University of Maryland, the City of College Park, and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) that brings together residents of College Park and surrounding communities with university students, staff, faculty, and alumni for a day of service.

College Park and surrounding communities have the opportunity each year to help fight food insecurity by participating in the Good Neighbor Annual Food Drive. Participants are encouraged to donate non-perishable food at various drop-off locations before Good Neighbor Day or give monetary donations directly to The College Park Community Food Bank and the UMD Campus Pantry.
