Drop-In Faculty Creative Jams allow college educators to quickly learn a digital design tool, work through a classroom project, gain live feedback from industry professionals, and win Adobe training and pizza parties for their students.

Tune in and work remotely to learn and compete alongside your colleagues from other universities. Two types of Creative Jams will be offered this summer; Adobe Xd Jams for experience design, and Premiere Rush Jams for storytelling!

Adobe Xd Creative Jams provide design prompts in experience and mobile design. Adobe Premiere Rush Creative Jams explore the process of gathering and assembling footage into a storytelling challenge. After the Jam, educators may use the project as their own in-curricula activity, and will get the components to bring the project into their own classes.

Faculty Jam Event Agenda

What's involved in a Summer Faculty Jam? Held virtually, Jams are an interactive experiences held in two sessions that encourage educators to watch a 2-hour kick-off session, work 3 to 5 hours on solving a design challenge, present their project to the judges if scored highly, and get a chance to win Adobe training with a pizza party for their students.

Session 1: KICK-OFF EVENT

Session 1 is a kick-off event which features topic inspiration, a software bootcamp, and a design challenge.

  • Join in a live Adobe software basic training bootcamp session online, where software tools are demonstrated and questions at all proficiency levels are welcome
  • Learn about the Jam challenge, a design problem for faculty to work and solve before Session 2
  • If one cannot attend the first session live, it will be recorded for replay for later watching
  • In response to the challenge prompt, work on an app prototype and produce an experience in Adobe XD, or edit a video and produce a story in Adobe Premiere Rush
  • Prototype submissions are due before Session 2 begins
Session 2: Presentations & Review

Session 2 is a review session with project presentations, feedback from the judges, and an award ceremony

  • Join in to view faculty participants of the top-scored projects present to the judges over video and screenshare
  • All projects get constructive feedback from our jury of industry professionals
  • Only one faculty member will win the top prize and bring fame and glory to their students
  • Project briefs and assets will be provided to faculty who want to bring the activity into their classes

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the breakout of each day?

On Session 1, a guest speaker will give a bit of inspiration, reveal the design challenge, and then an Adobe trainer will run the software bootcamp. On Session 2, the top 12 faculty projects are presented remotely, judges will give feedback and score, and then awards will be announced.

How do I prepare for a smooth virtual experience?

Everyone will need to have their own computer to log in individually, fast internet, and earbuds with a mic plugged in. Is there anything I need to do before participating?

Educators must have Adobe XD or Premiere Rush and/or Creative Cloud downloaded onto their computers in order to complete the challenge. Register for a free Creative Cloud account here. Registered participants will be emailed prep study links before the bootcamp, and an event link on where to meet online.

How will we receive prizes? Prizes will be electronically fulfilled within 3 weeks after the final session to educator’s campus-issued email addresses.
