We are excited to announce that Dr. Kevin Trenberth will be giving his ESSIC Seminar from New Zealand on Tuesday, February 16th at 3 PM EST. His talk is "The Changing Flow of Energy Through the Climate System". Please note that the webinar is on Tuesday at 3 PM EST rather than the regular Monday 2 PM EST, since the speaker will be joining us from New Zealand which has a big time zone difference.

Kevin Trenberth is a Distinguished Scholar at NCAR and an Honorary Academic in Auckland University, New Zealand. He worked for NCAR for 35 years, and played a major leadership role in IPCC and the WCRP for more than 20 years.  He is a fellow of the AMS, AAAS, AGU, and an honorary fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand Te Apārangi and has received a number of awards.  From 1996 until 2019 he ranked first in the number of highly cited papers out of all 223,246 published environmental scientists.

In anticipation of his February 16 seminar, Dr. Kevin Trenberth is generously giving away a copy of his new book, "The Changing Flow of Energy Through the Climate System", to one lucky ESSIC Seminar attendee! His book is being published by Cambridge University Press with an expected publication date of August 2021. The book foreword is written by Al Gore, the former vice president of the United States and the Nobel Peace Prize winner. We are excited to welcome Dr. Trenberth with his new book debut.
