The Turfgrass Pathology program at the University of Maryland is primarily concentrated on the identification and integrated management of turfgrass diseases important to the Mid-Atlantic region and more specifically to Maryland. The research and extension activities of the lab focus on:

• Understanding the epidemiology of common turfgrass diseases and the development of risk maps using machine learning algorithms.

• Characterizing the genetics of host resistance through genetic mapping studies.

• Evaluating the application of image processing and remote sensing in the identification and management of turfgrass diseases.

• Determining the distribution of turfgrass parasitic nematodes in the state and development of management practices.
